Songwriter | Producer | Musician | Artist
Rogelio Salazar Avalos arrived in Monterrey in 1986 to study high school and pursue a degree in Public Accounting. During his high school years, he began playing in rondallas, trios, and mariachis. For ten years, he sang at weddings and was a music teacher for preschoolers in the state of Nuevo León. Additionally, he was a singer in the grupero movement for four years, with the most notable group being Azteka. He started composing songs in 1994, and in 1995, he had his first recording with the group "Revolver" from the MCM label with the song "La Deuda". That same year, the group "Curramba", also from MCM, recorded his song "Contigo una y otra vez", which reached number one throughout Mexico.
In 1998, he joined the record label Disa Edimonsa as a director, where he worked until 2006. He then became part of Prime Time Entertainment, American Show Latin, Mty Music, and Remex Music as the director of A&R. Currently, he has over 400 recordings and 100 singles on radio and television. Some of his most notable songs include:
Currently, his song "La Patrona" with Edwin Luna y La Trakalosa de Monterrey and Leandro Ríos is number one in the USA. Additionally, a historic duet in Colombia with the two most important exponents of Colombian popular music, "Jessi Uribe" and "Yeison Jiménez", has just been released with the song "Me Tiré al Alcohol". Other recent songs include "Más que Disney" with Edwin Luna y La Trakalosa de Monterrey, which reached number three on Billboard, and "1500 Pedas" with La Adictiva, which reached number five on Billboard.
Many of these songs were written in collaboration with "Salvador Aponte", "César Valdivia", and "Santa Benith".
Rogelio has received multiple BMI awards and was recognized in 2012 and 2013 by Billboard as the editor of the year in the United States. He also has multiple Grammy nominations. Among his greatest skills are his vocal abilities and his proficiency in various instruments, including guitar, keyboard, violin, and bass. He also masters multiple music editing programs, knowledge that he applies to his productions. He is a versatile author, with recordings in genres such as grupero, vallenato, banda duranguense, pop, cumbia, norteño, traditional norteño, sierreño, salsa, merengue, reggaeton, and tropical.
His dream is to leave a legacy with his songs for posterity, as he has spent nearly 30 years writing music. Rogelio is not yet satisfied and knows that the best is yet to come. His greatest advice for those who want to succeed as songwriters is to keep writing and fighting for their dreams. It is essential to prepare musically, culturally, and technologically, and never blame anyone for your failures. Instead, overcome them and show everyone what you are truly worth.
